Acceris Communications Patent Portfolio to Include VoIP in China.

SOMERSET, N.J. -- Acceris Communications Technologies, a subsidiary of Acceris Communications Inc. (OTCBB:ACRS), announced that it has been granted Chinese Patent No. ZL97192954.8 by the State Intellectual Property Office of the People's Republic of China for its proprietary technology that enables Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) communications as it is most widely used today. This patent, effective through February 5, 2017, is equivalent to Acceris' US Patent No. 6,438,124, entitled "Voice Internet Transmission System," which describes the basic structure and processes for completing calls between two or more standard telephone sets over the Internet.

"The China patent adds to our robust international patent portfolio in the VoIP communications arena, and strengthens our pursuit of a global patent licensing strategy. According to a new study by telecommunications strategy consulting firm ATLANTIC-ACM, the retail VoIP market is projected to grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 64 percent from 2003 to 2009, reaching $20.4 billion in sales by 2009.
