Accept me as I am.

Accept me as I am

Why do you look at me so weird?
   Your eyes spell disdain.
   What have I done?
   What is wrong with me?

   Won't you hold my hand,
And be my eyes for me.
   My world is dark,
But I hear what you say to me.

   Let me be your friend,
Love me just as I am.
   I cannot run like you,
   But I can understand.

Your world is full of fun,
You think that I'm too dumb
And won't let me join in.
I need love like you do too.

I sit in silence all alone,
   The wind touches my skin,
   The sun kisses my brow
There is no sweet sound in my ear.
But I see your smiling face,
   I feel your tender touch,
   I smell your sweet perfume
Though my lips cannot say what I feel.
I try so hard to tell you
   But you just can't understand
My mind is free to wander,
My soul is trying to soar,
But my lips cannot tell you
   How much I love you.

Won't you come and sit a while
Hold my hand and be my guide.
   Your touch will tell me,
   That I'm worthwhile
