its operations by designing and building a new Unified Tax System.

The foundation for the new Unified Tax System will be Accenture's Tax Administration System application, which will help the state address core revenue processing requirements such as tax-return processing and revenue distribution. The new system will be Web-enabled, allowing Nevada taxpayers to access tax-related information and conduct their transactions online. Tax compliance and audit requirements will be addressed using software from Revenue Solutions Inc., and Covansys Corp. will assist with the conversion of the new system.

"For several years the Nevada Department of Taxation has had a need for integrated and enhanced technology to better serve our businesses and taxpayers. Accenture clearly demonstrated to us their experience, capabilities, and proven track record for other tax authorities," said Chuck Chinnock, Executive Director for the Department of Taxation. "We look forward to working with Accenture on implementing this critical new tax system which will serve the needs of Nevada for a long time to come."

The new Unified Tax System is designed to provide the Nevada Department of Taxation with many benefits including improved customer service for taxpayers through better access to services and more comprehensive information; improved taxpayer compliance; and replacement of aging legacy systems. The system should also enable the Department of Taxation to implement proven, flexible and scalable tax applications more easily, without the need for ongoing vendor support.

"The new Unified Tax System should benefit the Nevada Department of Taxation as well as the state's taxpayers," said C. Ann ANN, Scotch law.
