Accenture Wins $6.3 Million IT Contract with Defense Logistics Agency.


RESTON, Va. -- Accenture (Accenture, Chicago, IL, www.accenture.com) The world's largest management and technology consulting firm, which was spun off of Arthur Andersen & Co. in 1989 as a separate entity known as Andersen Consulting. The consulting practice, which started out in the 1950s as a secondary area of expertise, grew so rapidly that by 1984 it was more profitable than the company's traditional accounting and tax business. In late 2000, Andersen Consulting changed its name to Accenture. (ACN: NYSE) has won a $6.3 million contract to provide information technology services for the Defense Logistics Agency's (DLA DLA - Drive Letter Access

), which is designed to replace DLA's existing repository for technical data.

The contract covers the first phase of PDMI, which includes document management services, business process reengineering See reengineering., automation of key business processes, change management services, training and organizational design services.

Accenture will also design the business processes for DLA's Technical & Quality organization in support of aircraft launch and recovery equipment, critical safety items, and individual repair parts ordering data. In addition, Accenture will lead a change management program across the PDMI user community, including DLA, its customers and industry; develop and conduct training for the PDMI community; and evaluate the Technical and Quality organizational structure in order to recommend business process reengineering improvements.
