) is marking International Women's Day International Women's Day (IWD) is marked on March 8 every year. It is a major day of global celebration for the economic, political and social achievements of women.  today with a series of coordinated activities in 20 cities around the world focused on women in business.

The objective of Accenture's involvement in International Women's Day is to provide a global forum that showcases the company's initiatives addressing the issues facing women inside and outside the workplace. The effort brings together Accenture people and clients from around the world, along with other business leaders and academics, and demonstrates the company's ongoing commitment to recruiting, retaining and advancing women.

Among the many Accenture senior executives participating in the company's International Women's Day events are Chairman Joe Forehand Joe Forehand is Chairman of the board and former CEO of Accenture. He became CEO in November 1999, and chairman in February 2001.

Forehand was born in Alexander City, Alabama and graduated in 1971 from Auburn University and is a brother of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity.
 and COO Steve Rohleder, who will be in Bangalore, India, where activities will include workshops on building effective networks and managing work/life balance. Gill Rider, Accenture's chief leadership officer, and Kedrick Adkins, Accenture's chief diversity officer, will be participating in London, where Accenture is hosting a panel discussion with business executives and academics. All told, dozens of Accenture executives, including nearly every member of Accenture's executive leadership team, will be participating in the day's events.

Accenture is also coordinating a webcast featuring stories from and about Accenture women worldwide. The webcast will run uninterrupted for 30 hours across 11 time zones and will be available to all Accenture employees via an Intranet connection.
