Accenture Announces Winners of Scholarships that Help Junior and Community College Students Advance to Four-Year Institutions.

) today announced the first 20 winners of its Junior and Community College Scholarship awards, which the company established earlier this year to support junior and community college students planning to enter bachelor's degree programs. The Accenture Junior and Community College Scholarship Fund is part of Accenture's commitment to providing greater access to higher education higher education

Study beyond the level of secondary education. Institutions of higher education include not only colleges and universities but also professional schools in such fields as law, theology, medicine, business, music, and art.

Winners will receive a $5,000 scholarship for the coming school year and will be eligible for an additional $5,000 for one additional year or until a bachelor's degree is earned. The company plans to award the scholarships annually.

Accenture received more than 160 scholarship applications. To be eligible, students must be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate course at an accredited accredited

recognition by an appropriate authority that the performance of a particular institution has satisfied a prestated set of criteria.

Selection criteria include academic record, demonstrated leadership, goals and aspirations, participation in school and community activities, and work experience. The scholarship fund is being administered by Scholarship America, the nation's largest nonprofit, private-sector scholarship and educational support organization.
