Accent on Asia: the Detroit Regional Economic Partnership, the economic-development arm of the Detroit Regional Chamber, is active in marketing the region across Asia through its New Markets & Asia and Regional Business Development programs.

The goals of the Program are to communicate the importance of Southeast Michigan Southeast Michigan, also called Southeastern Michigan, is a region in the Lower Peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan that is home to a majority of the state's businesses and industries, and is home to slightly over half the state's population.  as an essential and preferred location for business expansion, to attract new international business involvement into the region and to market the total solutions capabilities of the partnership. Due to the competitive business advantages in these countries, development efforts with foreign companies are focused on completing business fusions (strategic alliances, partnerships, joint ventures), establishing facilities (sales offices, research and development centers, technical centers, warehouses) and locating sales support (manufacturer's representatives, dealers, distributors).

) program is a part of the Global Business Development team of the Detroit Regional Economic Partnership. This program focuses on working with companies based in the Detroit Region to assist them in developing their business expansion strategies. These projects can take the shape of reaching international markets, domestic customer development, joint ventures, global sourcing initiatives, exporting and new market evaluations.

The RBD program targets middle-market companies in the $10 million to $200 million range, mostly automotive related. However, the Program is also involved in such emerging areas as biotechnology, electronics, life sciences and advanced (non-automotive) manufacturing. Regarding Asia, and China specifically, many companies are examining the role and influence China will have (or is already having) on their own market and products.
