) today announced the appointment of Mathew Hahn, PhD as Chief Science & Technology Officer.

Dr. Hahn is responsible for driving the direction of Accelrys' science and technology by working closely with Accelrys' clients and ensuring the visibility and viability of the scientific and technical pedigree of Accelrys. Dr. Hahn will also focus on actively engaging Accelrys' internal scientific and technical communities by chairing both the Accelrys Sabbatical Program and the Technology Council.

Dr. Hahn's tenure with the company extends back to his joining Molecular Simulations in 1989 following the receipt of his PhD from the University of Santa Cruz Santa Cruz, city, United States

In the following 10 years Dr. Hahn led Molecular Simulations' product development effort for a number of its life science products, including the Catalyst product line, and has made significant contributions to positioning Accelrys as a market leader. In 1999, Dr. Hahn co-founded the industry-leading workflow company, SciTegic, Inc. (SciTegic) which Accelrys subsequently acquired in September 2004 and Dr. Hahn re-joined Accelrys as general manager of the SciTegic subsidiary.

Dr. Hahn will remain general manager of the SciTegic subsidiary, and continue to guide the development and marketing of its innovative and open workflow platform, Pipeline Pilot(R).
