PALO ALTO, Calif. -- To help companies secure the transfer of documents from multifunction printers/scanners/copiers and business applications, Accellion, Inc. today announced the SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) The standard e-mail protocol on the Internet and part of the TCP/IP protocol suite, as defined by IETF RFC 2821. SMTP defines the message format and the message transfer agent (MTA), which stores and forwards the mail.  Satellite. The SMTP Satellite works in conjunction with Accellion's Managed File Transfer A managed file transfer (MFT) application is a software product that provides organizations with a holistic solution to their file transfer needs. The responsibilities of a MFT suite include securing the data by encrypting the transmission channel or the data itself, managing  appliance and extends file tracking, reporting and encryption to files originating from scanners and business applications. By offloading the delivery of large scanned documents and reports from email, the SMTP Satellite improves email performance and reduces email storage requirements while preventing data leaks.

Non-secure transfer of scanned documents and business reports containing intellectual property and confidential personal information can quickly become a security issue. Using the SMTP Satellite in conjunction with Accellion Managed File Transfer provides business users the ability to easily and securely transfer large scanned documents and confidential reports without clogging up email.
