  • William Abraham (Irish politician) (1840–1915), Irish Parliamentary Party Member of Parliament in the British House of Commons.
of Mt. Sinai Medical Center of Greater Miami presented a paper to test the effect of nitric oxide as released by the AT-101 on the asthmatic response. Dr. Abraham found that pre-treatment with the AT-101 minimized the immediate bronchoconstriction (narrowing of the airways) and eliminated the additional bronchoconstriction that typically takes place six hours later. These abnormalities may also occur in human asthma.

This study indicated that nitric oxide released by the AT-101 was distributed throughout the body. It is the first to show that nitric oxide suppresses the activity of nuclear factor kappa beta, a gene that directs inflammation in a whole animal preparation.

Dr. Marvin Sackner, President of Acceleration Therapeutics, stated: "The benefit of the AT-101 is its potential for treating human asthma safely and effectively. Furthermore, AT-101 treatments might be beneficial in all chronic diseases that have inflammation as their basis.
