, and new technologies are promising to change the way companies do business -- all the way from the customer premises to the core of the carrier net. We went in search of the devices most likely to make it happen ... the hottest of the hot."

"Accelerated Networks' access devices could change the way carriers furnish WAN services," claimed Data Communications in describing the Accelerator solution.

"The recognition of our technology implementation is quite a compliment for us," said Kiran Munj, Accelerated Networks' co-founder and vice president of engineering. "We have combined full-featured solutions for concentration, switching and gateway functionality, top-of-the-line voice support, and a comprehensive, OSS-aware element management system.

"Data Communications' recognition confirms our belief that the new breed of carriers want all of these functions in an integrated, easy-to-use system," Munj added.

This award is considered to be one of the most prestigious product awards in the networking industry. Editors at Data Communications consider all products introduced in a given year, and choose those judged to best represent technology advancement.

In addition to those products exhibiting a unique technology differentiator, winning products are those that demonstrate a strong business case for Data Communications' readers -- saving them money either by cutting costs, securing information or boosting performance.

"The Hot Products award is a significant endorsement of a new product or service's `promise' in terms of the technological advancement or enhancements it intends to provide to networking professionals," according to Data Communications Editor in Chief Lee Keough.

"Data Communications readers, who design, build and manage the world's largest networks, recognize and respect the Hot Products logo and use its distinction to help them make critical purchase decisions," Keough added.
