AcceLight Networks today announced Dr. Debashis Basak, network architect, and Denny Lee, director of product marketing, will chair technical programs at the National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference (NFOEC 2001).

AcceLight Networks is introducing a new network element - the photonic service switch - that provides switched services for the wavelength core. Its PhotoniX 540 consolidates and manages packet, timeslot and wavelength traffic on one network layer through a single element and network management system.

Dr. Basak, a noted authority on GMPLS and member of the IETF, will chair the Protection session in the Optical Network Architectures conference track. Specific topics presented by the panel will include: an algorithmic framework for protection switching in WDM networks, intelligent MPLS-based protection mechanisms in IP over DWDM optical networks, transparent two-fiber optical channels shared protection ring, and a framework for integrated DWDM optical network design with traffic grooming. Panel members include representatives from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Raza Foundries, Iris Labs, Corning, and Zaffire.

Panel members include representatives from Cable & Wireless Global, Centerpoint Broadband Technologies, Cisco Systems, Harmonic, and Advanced Fibre Communications.
