Business Editors/Education Writers

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIF.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--August 28, 2000

academic.com, higher education's first comprehensive educational learning tool on the Internet, has launched. Some 40 colleges and universities have put their courses online, and will teach their students using academic.com as an aide during the fall term.

Three key elements make academic.com, created by Academic Systems, higher education's most powerful and comprehensive tool for harnessing the full potential of the web:

1. academic.com contains ActiveContent(TM) learning modules, an

extensive library of more than 300 modular course building blocks

covering over 1,500 learning objectives in key general education

subject areas. The library is growing as Academic Systems

powerful, easy-to-use platform, then adds a series of templates

that enables instructors to quickly and easily place existing

courses online. Instructors simply point and click to create a

add rich interactive content from the ActiveContent(TM) library

to supplement course sites simply clicking with their mouse. Most

instructors can transition their existing courses to an online

environment in hours rather than days, without having to develop

web-authoring expertise.

services to train faculty and administrators, provides

round-the-clock technical support services support services Psychology Non-health care-related ancillary services–eg, transportation, financial aid, support groups, homemaker services, respite services, and other services , and integrates

academic.com into the school's existing technology infrastructure.

"academic.com is the only product that offers institutions a comprehensive approach to e-learning," said John Brandon, president of Academic Systems. "With academic.com, students get access to superior content, faculty get the ability to put their courses online quickly and easily, and faculty and administrators get academic and technical support.
