Academic says party must face up to election failure.


THE Conservative Party starts its annual party conference in Blackpool today amid uncertainty about where the Tories are headed.

After enduring two crushing General Election defeats in a row, with their third leader in four years, and without Parliamentary representation in Wales Wales, Welsh Cymru, western peninsula and political division (principality) of Great Britain (1991 pop. 2,798,200), 8,016 sq mi (20,761 sq km), west of England; politically united with England since 1536. "There is one issue the Tories have in which public opinion is with them, and that is the Euro. They must keep that and address other issues.

"I have no doubt they will come out with lots of new ideas and there will be a much more radical shift to the middle ground than people expect."
