Acacia Research Names Dr. Amit Kumar as Vice President, Life Sciences; Medical Industry Entrepreneur Will Manage New San Francisco Area Office.

PASADENA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 17, 2000

Acacia Research Corporation (Nasdaq/NMS:ACRI) today announced that it has named Dr. Amit Kumar as Vice President, Life Sciences.

Dr. Kumar will manage a new office in Silicon Valley where he will oversee Acacia Research's evaluation of opportunities and partnerships in life sciences and biotechnology.

Kumar was founding president and chief executive officer of Signature BioSciences, a private life science company developing technology for advanced research in genomics, proteomics, and drug discovery. Kumar was previously New Technology Program Manager at Idetek Corporation where he invented and developed the company's platform technology. He held senior management positions with IDEXX Laboratories IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. or IDXX NASDAQ: IDXX is a multinational corporation engaged in the development, manufacture, and distribution of products and services for the veterinary, food, and water testing markets.  (Nasdaq:IDXX) following that company's acquisition of Idetek.
