:ACRI) announced its intention to begin an offshore companion private investment partnership, or hedge fund hedge fund, in finance, a highly speculative, largely unregulated investment device. Originating in the 1950s, the funds "hedge" by offsetting "short" positions (borrowing a security and then selling it at a higher price before repaying the lender) against "long" .

The offshore fund is planned to commence in January 1996 and be administered by Furman Selz in Dublin, Ireland. This decision was made because of the high level of interest expressed by European European

In addition, relative to the company's business development, Acacia acacia (əkā`shə), any plant of the large leguminous genus Acacia, often thorny shrubs and trees of the family Leguminosae (pulse family).  Research currently has two new companies in development. Both of these companies are high-tech-related. It is expected that at least one of these companies will begin earning revenue for Acacia Research in 1996.

Whitewing Labs, a company developed by Acacia Research, has filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission to offer its common stock to the public. Acacia Research controls a majority interest in Whitewing Labs.

Acacia Research offers a range of investment opportunities to its clients and shareholders. The company's primary objective is to make money for its investors with a combination of aggressive and conservative investment approaches in areas such as new business development, traditional capital management and shareholder participation.
