Abraxas Petroleum Corporation Closes $63.5 Million Private Debt Placement.


SAN ANTONIO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 29, 1999--Abraxas Petroleum Corporation (Nasdaq:AXAS) today announced that it had closed a previously announced private placement of an aggregate principal amount of $63.5 million Senior Secured Notes due 2003 at an annual interest rate of 12.88% (the "Notes").

The notes are secured by substantially all of the Company's oil and natural gas properties and natural gas processing Natural gas processing plants, or fractionators, are used to purify the raw natural gas extracted from underground gas fields and brought up to the surface by gas wells. The processed natural gas, used as fuel by residential, commercial and industial consumers, is almost pure  facilities and the shares of Grey Wolf Exploration Inc. owned by the Company.
