Abraham Gosman takes on role of CEO at CareMatrix.


CareMatrix Corporation's' stock has been languishing and Abraham Gosman has decided to grab hold of the reins. Gosman, who is chairman of the Needham, Massachusetts-based assisted living company, will take on the role of chief executive officer. At press time, CareMatrix's stock was trading just under $17, down from a 52-week high of $31.

Additionally, Frederick Leathers, currently chief financial officer for PhyMatrix Corporation and formerly CFO See Chief Financial Officer.  for the Mediplex Group Inc., will become CareMatrix's CFO.

CareMatrix's current CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. , Robert Kaufman, and Gosman's son Michael, who was the company's vice-chairman and executive vice president, will head a newly created consulting firm that will identify mergers and acquisitions, financing, and other expansion opportunities for CareMatrix.

Marc Benson, formerly CareMatrix's chief operating officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)

The officer of a firm responsible for day-to-day management, usually the president or an executive vice-president.
, replaces Gosman's other son, Andrew, as president of the company. Andrew will serve as vice chairman of CareMatrix. Michael Zaccaro, formerly executive vice president of operations, will replace Benson.

Dale Zulauf, most recently president of Sunrise Healthcare Corp., and before that a regional vice president of operations for Hillhaven/Vencor, will serve as senior vice president of operations.
