Akhavan is a graduate of Adelphi University Adelphi University (ədĕl`fī), at Garden City, N.Y.; coeducational; chartered 1896 as Adelphi College. Originally in Brooklyn, the school moved to its present location in 1929 and in 1963 achieved university status.  and a 15 year veteran in the furniture sales business. He opened his first furniture store in 1987 and within few years he expanded his successful business to a second furniture store with a showroom display of 25,000 square feet. Akhavan's expertise in purchasing, leasing, negotiating, hiring, advertising and customer service have allowed him to make a successful transition into real estate sales.
