AboveNet chose Lucent's VoIP solution because it enables AboveNet to use its own scaleable, high-performance network without incurring the expense of dedicated T-1 links.

Lucent's NetCare(R) Services provided a critical role in integrating Lucent's DEFINITY Release 7.1/ITS-E solution in AboveNet's East Coast and West Coast sites. NetCare Services specifically helped AboveNet design, install and manage AboveNet's VoIP solution.

Second Phase of VoIP Deployment

AboveNet plans to expand the reach of its VoIP network to other U.S. sites and to international locations over the next several months. In July, AboveNet plans to add Lucent's IP Trunk Interface card to DEFINITY Release 7.1, allowing employees in its New York New York, state, United States
New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of
 office to route voice and fax calls over the IP network with its San Jose and Vienna offices. AboveNet also plans to work with Lucent to deploy a call center solution that will seamlessly distribute service calls between facilities.

In the next six months, AboveNet plans to add Lucent's VoIP solution to some of its international locations, including London, U.K., Vienna, Austria and Frankfurt, Germany. In addition, AboveNet's U.K. location is using Lucent's MultiMedia Communications eXchange (MMCX MMCX Multimedia Communications Exchange (Lucent)
