About.com Announces Agreement with Broadcast.com to Host All-Talk Internet Radio Show.


NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 14, 1999--

About.com, Inc. (Nasdaq: BOUT) announced today it has signed a business services agreement with broadcast.com (Nasdaq: BCST BCST Broadcast

) to provide Internet broadcasting Internet Broadcasting (formerly Internet Broadcasting Systems), or IBS, is a provider of television station web sites. IBS hosts over 70 local stations' sites, and co-produced NBCOlympics.  services for the company's all-talk Internet radio Listening to audio broadcasts via the Internet. There are more than 4,000 broadcasts available on the Internet that can be streamed and played by a software media player in the computer or in a stand-alone Internet radio with the software built in.  program "Talking About This Week." Under the agreement, broadcast.com is hosting About.com's live and on-demand streaming audio A one-way audio transmission over a data network. It is widely used on the Web as well as company networks to play audio clips and Internet radio. Computers in home networks stream audio (mostly music) to digital media hubs connected to home theaters.  programming, which showcases About.com's network of more than 650 expert human Guides. The show is available live every Thursday from 3:00 to 4:00 pm (ET) and can be accessed at (www.broadcast.com/shows/aboutcom/radioshow), as well as the Talk Radio icon on the About.com homepage. All shows will be archived and made available on demand on broadcast.com.
