Bingo is one of the most traditional and popular chance games played with cards. In this kind of game, numbers are randomly drawn and players need to match them against pre printed 5*5 matrices. These matrices could be either printed on paper, card stock or even electronically represented.

Numbers randomly drawn have to match the printed numbers in a specified manner. Once this is done winner would call out the word "Bingo". All these wins are officially confirmed and checked before giving away the prize money and beginning a new game.

With growing popularity of the game, alternative versions have been designed in order to accommodate more and more number of players into the game. Each version of the game is entirely different from the traditionally played form. Some patterns of the game would require one number to be matched while certain games award prizes to players for matching no numbers or achieving no specific patterns.

The most commonly used bingo card is a flat piece of cardboard containing 25 squares arranged in five vertical columns and rows and is played using 75 numbers. The letters B I N G O are printed one above each vertical column. The numbers on the card correspond to the following arrangement:

1 to 15: B column

16 to 30: I column

31 to 45: N column

46 to 60: G column and

61 to 75: O column.

Since the advent of latest technology, electronic random number generator is mostly using for drawing out numbers. However some bingo clubs still use the traditional method of mechanised ball draws using randomly shuffled deck of bingo calling cards.

Players playing bingo always play with multiple cards for each game because larger the number of cards played by each player, greater are their chances of winning the game. Ease of playing the game and scope for making more money have made this game pretty popular across the globe. However this is not a relatively new game and can be traced as back as 1530.

Bingo was in fact the first lottery game that was played in Italy and as it got commercialised over a period of time, this game was offered in casinos. With the advent of internet, this game is now being offered online. Not only this, bingo logic is even being used in all kinds of scratch cards where numbers are pre drawn for each card and hidden until the card is scratched. In fact in all lotteries with online networks, the price money of the game is electronically confirmed to avoid frauds.

Some of the popular variations of this game include U-Pick'Em bingo, Quick shot bingo, and Bonanza bingo, Horse racing bingo, Table bingo, Buzzword bingo, Bovine bingo, Cyber bingo, online bingo, Road kill bingo, Lingo, Slingo and electronic bingo. In fact electronic bingo is the latest form of the game that has blurred the lines between traditional slot machines and bingo slot machines.
