Abortion article challenged.

Peculiar that Anne Simmons, author of "Taking the Judgement out of Abortion", (Kai kai

The capital is Wellington; the largest city and leading port is Auckland. , February 2005, p27) asks for health professionals to address this topic, yet she fails in her ability to be truly sincere, given her referral to those with "anti-choice feelings". For such an open and honest discussion to take place, one must refrain from using semantically flawed flaw 1

and emotionally charged labels. Would she appreciate pro-lifers referring to her as our contemporary opposite, something along the lines of "anti-life"? "Choice" implies many options, whereas "anti-choicers" are only and one choice.

She asks the question about the high rates of child abuse continuing when abortion was supposed to prevent unwanted foeti being born into abuse. Perhaps we are aborting the wrong foeti, given that this abuse continues. Society cannot expect respect for any member, if it allows abortion, often with state funding, with the justification for it being the stage of development. It is only logical that such disrespect will carry over into other developmental stages. Attributing the "right to life" upon a person, based solely on their wantedness, is repugnant REPUGNANT. That which is contrary to something else; a repugnant condition is one contrary to the contract itself; as, if I grant you a house and lot in fee, upon condition that you shall not aliens, the condition is repugnant and void. Bac. Ab. Conditions, L. . There are many thousands of couples waiting to adopt, so obviously everyone is wanted by someone, and not being wanted should not be akin to a death sentence.

Simmons has another logically flawed concept in regards to not judging a patient and applying treatment regardless of personal feelings. The example of the paedophile paedophile or US pedophile

Legally, something must be done. The Contraception contraception: see birth control.

Birth control by prevention of conception or impregnation. The most common method is sterilization. The most effective temporary methods are nearly 99% effective if used consistently and correctly.
, Sterilisation and Abortion Act is no longer being adhered to, or else we have a serious mental health crisis among the female populace. However, allowing women free access to abortion will only serve to ignore the hard questions. As health professionals, we should endeavour to address the situation and ask why this woman wants an abortion, and try to assist in solving those problems.

Taking a human life can never be a viable solution to such a dilemma, one which we could solve if we only took the time to address it. [Abridged. Ed.]
