Abobe buying Omniture in 1.8 bln dlr deal


Adobe Systems Adobe Systems Incorporated (pronounced a-DOE-bee IPA: /əˈdoʊbiː/) (NASDAQ: ADBE) (LSE: ABS) is an American computer software company headquartered in San Jose, California, USA. , known for its Photoshop editing program and Acrobat document software, announced on Tuesday it has agreed to buy Web analytics firm Omniture Inc. for 1.8 billion dollars.

, California-based Adobe said it will make an offer to acquire all of the outstanding common stock of Omniture for 21.50 dollars per share, a premium of 45 percent over its average closing price for the last 30 trading days.

"Adobe customers are looking to us for solutions to deliver engaging experiences and more effectively monetize their content and applications online," Adobe president and chief executive Shantanu Narayen Shantanu Narayen is currently the President & Chief Operating Officer of Adobe Systems since 2005.

He started his career at Apple Computer. He received his MBA from the Haas School of Business in 1993.

It said the transaction, which is subject to regulatory approval, is expected to close in the fourth quarter of Adobe's 2009 fiscal year.

Adobe announced meanwhile its net profit fell to 136 million dollars in the third quarter, which ended on August 28, from 191.6 million dollars a year ago.

Revenue declined to 697.5 million dollars from 887.3 million dollars in the same quarter a year ago.
