Abner Katzman Named to New Associated Press International Position.

 today appointed Abner Katzman to the new position of regional director-global business for Latin America Latin America, the Spanish-speaking, Portuguese-speaking, and French-speaking countries (except Canada) of North America, South America, Central America, and the West Indies. .

Katzman, formerly deputy director of AP World Services, will be based in AP's New York headquarters. He will report to John Keitt, senior vice president for global business.

"Abner brings to his new assignment both vision and detailed knowledge on how to shape AP content and services for a growing market," said Associated Press President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  Tom Curley.

Katzman, 57, is a veteran AP journalist. He served as bureau chief in Amsterdam and Paris before taking up his World Services post in 2000.

Katzman joined the AP in 1977 in Boston, transferred to AP's international desk in 1980, and was named correspondent in The Hague, Netherlands, in 1982. He is a graduate of Haverford College.
