Abitino says hello to neighborhood.

Orchestrating the purchase of a retail lease and its combination with a neighboring storefront, Andrew A. Pittel & Co., LLC has arranged a lease for Abitino's Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria on a prominent Greenwich Village corner.

The 10-year lease gives Abitino's 1,000 s/f at street level and a basement of about 1,200 s/f at 233 Bleecker St. The landlord for both spaces is Sol Goldman Investments. Pittel represented both the landlord and the tenant in the transaction

The deal came together when the prior tenant decided against renewing, and Pittel was able to broker the sale of the lease for the adjacent space occupied by The Vegetable Garden to Abitino's. The combined space gave Abitino's the room it was looking for at one of the most prime comers in the Village.

"This is a neighborhood famous for popular Italian eateries," said Mr. Pittel. "The area received a nice bit of screen time in the opening minutes of 'Spider-Man 2.' But more importantly, the neighborhood's history, charm and 24-hour excitement and energy made the location an ideal spot for Abitino's to plant its flag."

Abitino's will be sharing the area not only with Old World Italian restaurants, salumerias and bakeries, but with other reputable merchants such as Murray's Cheese Shop and Ottomanelli & Son's.
