Abiomed Announces Schedule of Events at 43rd Annual STS Meeting.

DANVERS, Mass. -- Abiomed, Inc. (NASDAQ: ABMD) today announced the showcase of its circulatory support technologies at the 43rd Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) conference being held at the San Diego Convention Center from January 27-31, 2007. Abiomed will occupy booth #525 at the STS Conference. At this internationally attended meeting, Abiomed will display its full spectrum of technologies including the AB5000, Impella and the new Intra-Aortic Balloon.

Abiomed will host "Making Recovery a Reality," a symposium at 6:30 pm on Saturday, January 27th,at the Omni Hotel. The event will include scientific presentations by senior management, key scientists and physicians on the Company's advanced technologies and market-driven solutions. A scientific poster by Dr. Mark Anderson, Chief of Cardiac Surgery at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey entitled, "Ventricular Assist Device Support for Acute Myocardial Infarction Cardiogenic Shock: Is Recovery Sustainable?" will also be displayed at the meeting.

Technologies to be discussed and displayed at STS include:

* The Impella([R])LP2.5 and 5.0 Circulatory Support Systems which are available in Europe under the CE Mark and are available only for investigational use in the United States. The Impella 2.5 and 5.0 are the world's smallest, minimally invasive, high-performance micro-blood pumps.

* Abiomed's AB5000(TM) Circulatory Support System which provides temporary support for one or both sides of the natural heart in circumstances where the heart has failed, giving the patient's heart the opportunity to rest and potentially recover - and giving surgeons the therapeutic flexibility necessary to determine the best endpoint for treatment. The AB5000 and Abiomed's BVS[R] 5000 Bi-Ventricular Support System are the only devices with approved indications for the recovery of the natural heart.

* Abiomed's new Intra-Aortic Balloon and iPulse(TM) combination console platform which is available in Europe and drives Abiomed's IAB, BVS 5000 and AB5000 Circulatory Support Systems.

* Abiomed's AbioCor[R] Implantable Replacement Heart, recently approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) under a Humanitarian Device Exemption (HDE), will also be on display at the STS Conference.
