Abilities Expo /NY Metro to Be Held This Weekend - March 28-30, 2008.


Dozens of Special Events Scheduled for Kids Day Set for Saturday, March 29

 -- This weekend, Abilities Expo/New York Metro will offer hundreds of new products and services as well as education sessions dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities, senior citizens, their families & caregivers, as well as healthcare and education professionals.  will take place at the NJ Convention and Expo Center in Edison from Friday, March 28 and continue through Sunday, March 30, 2008.

HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:

* The Paralyzed Veterans of America The Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) is a congressionally-chartered veterans' service organization in the United States of America, founded in 1946. It describes itself as having "developed a unique expertise on a wide variety of issues involving the special needs of our members  will be honored during Abilities Expo and Randy Pleva, the organization's National President, will be the keynote speaker on Friday, March 28 at 11:00 am.

* Joe Gannascoli, best known for his role as "Vito" on The Sopranos will be at the Bright Steps Forward Booth #305. He will be signing his new book as well as taking photos. Joe does not have a disability, but is an advocate for Bright Steps Forward and is supporting their fundraising efforts.

* Saturday, March 29th is "KIDS DAY" offering activities for children of all ages including Basketball; Safe Kids of NJ Safety Game; Stilt stilt, common name for some members of the family Recurvirostridae, shore birds including the avocet. Stilts, as their name implies, have the longest legs of any bird except the flamingo.  Walker & Entertainer ~ Peter Juris; Kids Power Soccer; Rugby (United Spinal JETS); Kids Clinic sponsored by United Spinal; Legsdontwork.com Chipping contest and Tennis. * Musical Performance by Justin Hines on Friday, March 28 and Saturday, March 29 at 11:30 am. Justin has traveled the world singing even as he copes with a rare genetic joint condition called Larsen Syndrome, that keeps him wheelchair bound.

* On Thursday, March 27th RESNA RESNA Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (formerly Rehabilitation Engineering Society of North America)  will offer a pre-show conference for professionals to earn CEU's. The course Interfacing Assistive Technology Devices and Power Wheelchairs will be led by Instructor Michelle Lange, OTR OTR Over The Road (truckers)
