Abilities Expo/Southern California to Be Held June 3-5, 2005.MILFORD, Conn. -- Abilities Expo/Southern California, the one show dedicated to educating and improving the lives of people with disabilities, senior citizens, their families & caregivers, as well as healthcare and education professionals, will take place at the Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim, CA from Friday, June 3 and continue through Sunday, June 5, 2005. Attendees will have a chance to discover and learn about new products and services - from computers to athletic equipment and mobility products to daily living aids - all conveniently displayed to see, test and compare. Exhibiting companies include Aquatic Access, Freedom Concepts, Independence Technology, Hands on Concepts, Christopher and Dana Reeve Paralysis Resource Center, Aero Mobility, Daimler Chrysler/Dodge, Innovations in Motion, Permobil, and many others. Local and regionally based organizations that work with people with disabilities will also be participating including Accessible San Diego, California Department of Rehabilitation, Team Advocates for Special Kids, and The Dayle McIntosh Center. The educational curriculum developed by Carmen Jones, the conference director for the event, focuses on relevant topics addressing life today for individuals with disabilities, their family and caregivers. The comprehensive workshop program, consisting of consumer and professional tracks, with certificates of participation available to students, and education and healthcare professionals include: Preparing a Winning Claim for Benefits; A New Paradigm to Career Counseling People with Disabilities; Intensive Therapy Treatment for Cerebral Palsy; Everything You Wanted to Know About Special Needs Trusts; How To Select the Right Vehicle; Living Independently in Los Angeles; and much more. A variety of special events will be taking place throughout the weekend. Attendees can test their trap and skeet skeet: see shooting. shooting skills in an Olympic Shooting Simulator, and meet gold medalist Kim Rhodes and the Olympic Shooting Team coaches at the Teftec booth, #113. For the adaptive sports enthusiast, Xtreme Medical will be doing daily demonstrations of wheelchair, hockey, rugby, and football, in the Special Events area located on the show floor. In addition, many special show services will be available for attendees including Complimentary Wheelchair Repair provided by Hands on Concepts. The services offered will include tire repair, loose brakes, minor chair adjustments and repairs. Services are provided on a first come first served basis. Loaner Wheelchairs provided by Permobil, also available on a first come first served basis. Personal Care Attendant services during show hours for bathroom and other special assistance. For People with Visual Impairments, there will be special workshops and exhibitor information handouts available in large type at the information desk. For People with Hearing Impairments, there will be a sign language interpreter available to assist persons who are deaf or hearing impaired, for a reasonable length of time per person. The interpreter's services can be requested at the information desk. Abilities Expo/Southern California is produced and managed by Advanstar Communications.
