Abigail R. Lee awarded TAPPI's William L. Cullison Scholarship.


Abigail R. Lee, a rising junior at Western Michigan University Western Michigan University, at Kalamazoo, Mich.; coeducational; founded in 1903 as Western State Normal School, became accredited in 1927 as a college, gained university status in 1957.  (WMU), Kalamazoo, Michigan USA, has been awarded the William L. Cullison Scholarship for the 2003-2004 academic year by the TAPPI TAPPI Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry  Foundation

Lee is an active member of the Ts'ai Lun Paper Organization at WMU, serving as Freshman Representative in 2002 and Secretary in 2003. Lee is a member of the Phi-Kappa Phi Honors Society, the Tau Beta Pi This article or section needs sources or references that appear in reliable, third-party publications. In addition, she received the Martin Luther King Academy Award of Scholastic Achievement for the 2001-2002 school year and was named a Western Michigan University Medallion Scholar in 2001.

In addition to her academic study Lee has gained valuable pulp and paper industry The global pulp and paper industry is dominated by North American (United States, Canada), northern European (Finland, Sweden) and East Asian countries (such as Japan). Australasia and Latin America also have significant pulp and paper industries.  experience working part time as an intern in the technical department at Graphic Packaging Corporation in Kalamazoo.

Dedicated to community service in her spare time, Lee is a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity Habitat for Humanity, nonprofit ecumenical Christian organization that enables low-income people to own affordable, livable housing. Headquartered in Americus, Ga., it was founded in 1976 by businessman Millard Fuller and his wife.  and the Washington Home and Hospice. She has also volunteered with the Western Michigan University Alternative Winter Experience, spending a week each winter break working in home less shelters. She also enjoys intramural football and has a purple belt in Tae Kwon Do tae kwon do

Korean martial art resembling karate. It is characterized by the use of high standing and jump kicks as well as punches and is practiced for sport, self-defense, and spiritual development. In sparring, blows are stopped just short of contact.

In order to be considered for the William L. Cullison Scholarship, eligible students must meet all criteria, and have completed two years of undergraduate school, with two years (or three years in a five-year program) remaining.
