Abersoch launch for Nixon's firm.

ENTREPRENEUR Simon Nixon today launches his latest business venture - a luxury UK house rental company whose first property is in Abersoch in North Wales North Wales (known in some archaic texts as Northgalis) is the northernmost unofficial region of Wales, bordered to the south by Mid Wales and to the east by England. .

SimonEscapes is an exclusive portfolio of holiday homes in locations which Mr Nixon has bought and developed personally.

Mr Nixon has invested more than pounds 5m of his own money in the Abersoch cottage, a second property in Chipping Camden in The Cotswolds and on renovations and interior design.

A further pounds 4m has been spent on land in Cornwall for a third house with projected build and design costs of pounds 4m. He is scouting for other sites in the Lake District and elsewhere.

The renovation and refurbishment of the first property, Borth Cottage in Abersoch, is now complete. The house sleeps 12 and comes complete with all the fittings of a boutique hotel Boutique hotel is a term originating in North America to describe intimate, usually luxurious or quirky hotel environments. Boutique hotels differentiate themselves from larger chain/branded hotels and motels by providing personalized level accommodation and services / facilities. , its own heli pad, hot tub, sauna and mini-cinema. A week's private hire of the coastal cottage doesn't come cheap - between pounds 4,500-pounds 6,000 depending on the time of year.

Mr Nixon said: "SimonEscapes is an idea I have had for a while. I wanted to bring together a collection of properties in some of the UK's most sought after locations which celebrate the very best that Britain offers, from the beauty of the Cotswolds, to the rugged coast of Cornwall.

"I have a passion for sleek, cool, contemporary design and with each house I will work with local experts and materials to create the ultimate 'escape' for the luxury market."

He said he was inspired to choose the Llyen Peninsula for his first SimonEscapes house by his personal connection with the area having enjoyed family holidays as a child there.

Mr Nixon founded Ewloe-based price comparison website businesses moneysupermarket.

com and travelsupermarket.com 10 years ago and these businesses were floated on the stock exchange in 2007 for pounds 850m, still the largest internet floatation in Europe to date. He made more than pounds 100m from the flotation.

He stepped down as chief executive in February but still owns 53% of moneysupermarket.

com. He now combines his time as deputy chairman of that company with his new ventures which include the recently launched travel guides website www.simonseeks.

com and SimonEscapes, his first venture into bricks and mortar A store (shop, supermarket, department store, etc.) in the real world. Contrast with clicks and mortar. .
