Abengoa Bioenergy Corporation, Chesterfield Chesterfield, city (1991 pop. 73,352) and district, Derbyshire, central England. An important industrial center, Chesterfield produces mining equipment, railroad cars, metal products, glass, and pottery. , Mo., has completed a 15-million-gallon-per-year expansion to its ethanol ethanol (ĕth`ənōl') or ethyl alcohol, CH3CH2OH, a colorless liquid with characteristic odor and taste; commonly called grain alcohol or simply alcohol.  plant in Portales, N.M. The plant now processes more than 11 million bushels of grain sorghum sorghum, tall, coarse annual (Sorghum vulgare) of the family Gramineae (grass family), somewhat similar in appearance to corn (but having the grain in a panicle rather than an ear) and used for much the same purposes.  into 30 million gallons of ethanol and approximately 90,000 tons of distillers' grains annually.
