In August, the National Park Service's Federal Lands to Parks
program transferred the last parcel of land to complete the $800,000
donation. The panhandle panhandle, in geography, a strip of land projecting from the main body of an area and shaped like the handle of a pan, such as the panhandles of West Virginia, Texas, and Alaska. county will now have a community park complete
with ballfields, a recreation center and a cross-county urban trail.
