Abacan Resource Corporation (the "Corporation") announced today that in accordance with the authority granted to the Board of Directors by the Corporation's shareholders at the Shareholders Meeting of March 29, 1999, the Board of Directors has determined that it is not in the best interests of the Corporation to implement a reverse stock split of the Corporation's common stock at this time. As previously announced, the Corporation has been advised by the Nasdaq Stock Market Nasdaq stock market The first electronic stock market listing over 5000 companies. The Nasdaq stock market comprises two separate markets, namely the Nasdaq National Market, which trades large, active securities and the Nasdaq Smallcap Market that trades emerging growth companies.
