), the world's leader in thermal management for power and digital electronics, announced its solutions for cooling high-end video cards for computers. Aavid has designed its video card coolers as drop-in solutions that allow for changes in video card layouts and chip sets by the customer. In addition, the new pin fin heat sinks A material that absorbs heat. Typically made of aluminum, heat sinks are widely used in amplifiers and other electronic devices that build up heat. Small heat sinks are the most economical method for cooling microprocessors and other chips.  feature two easy installing spring-loaded push pins. The end result is a thermal solution that meets the demands of the cost-conscious computer peripheral market.

Aavid Marketing Manager Chris Chapman, "Aavid has focused on the business challenges, as well as the thermal challenges facing our customers. Our engineers work with our customer's system engineer to develop standard hole placement in the video board. This allows customers to drop-in solutions for new boards, or change heat sinks to accommodate product changes to high-performance chips. Also by keeping the hole pattern standard, the system can utilize thermal designs that provide `keep-out' areas to accommodate future components as necessary."

In addition to supporting easy evolution to future products, Aavid's pin fin video chip thermal solutions reduce customer manufacturing time and costs. Aavid's patented push pins are the simplest technique for installing heat sinks to circuit boards in high volumes. Aavid offers two versions, a low-cost plastic version or a brass version for high reliability in extreme conditions. Aavid video card thermal solutions also include standard phase-change thermal interface pads to insure Insure can mean:
