(Alberta Stock Exchange-"AAA") is pleased to announce the signing of a Telecommunication Equipment Contract with a Major Regional Bell Operating Company The Regional Bell Operating Companies (RBOC) are the result of the U.S. Department of Justice antitrust suit against American Telephone & Telegraph. History  (RBOC (Regional Bell Operating Company) The Bell telephone companies that were spun off of AT&T by court order in 1984 (the Divestiture). Also known as the "Baby Bells," the initial seven RBOCs were Nynex, Bell Atlantic, BellSouth, Southwestern Bell, US West, ) in the United States.

This contract officially recognizes Aastra as a supplier of Customer Premise Equipment (CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) Communications equipment that resides on the customer's premises.

) to this RBOC. The preliminary list of products selected include Aastra's Voice 8000-the talking Caller ID, Vision Plus-the Caller ID on Call Waiting and the two distinctive ringing devices-Ring Selector I and II.

In addition, the door has been opened for Aastra to bid on the network promotional programs by the RBOC. Already, Aastra has been selected to supply a standard Call Display unit for one of their intelligent network promotional program beginning this month.

Mr. Tony Shen, Aastra's President is quoted as saying "The signing of this contract is a significant milestone for Aastra; it represents the Company's first opportunity to supply a main stream network product to a major RBOC in the United States."

Aastra Technologies Inc. designs, develops and distributes telecommunications equipment for the consumer market. These products support a wide range of services including Caller Identification, Call Waiting Identification, Voice Mail, Distinctive Ringing and the Internet.
