AYR ARE FULL OF EASTON PROMISE; AYR 1 COWDENBEATH 1.


COWDENBEATH boss Brian Welsh Brian Welsh (born February 3, 1967 is a Scottish football manager and former professional footballer. He currently manages Cowdenbeath, having previously played for Dundee United and Hibernian.  branded Willie Easton's injury-time equaliser a sickener but vowed to battle on.

Easton rescued Ayr a point with his first goal for the club just as the Blue Brazil looked like hanging on to John Dempster's goal.

But Cowden's task had been made tougher when Jay Shields Jay Shields (born 6 July 1985 in Edinburgh) is a Scottish footballer, currently playing for Greenock Morton having left SPL club Hibernian at the end of the 2006-07 season.

A tough battler and a competent defender, Shields made his Hibernian debut in 2004.

Welsh said: "It's another kick in the teeth to lose a goal right at the death.

Dempster fired Cowden ahead in 47 minutes when he burst into the box to prod home Jon Robertson's cross.

Ayr stormed forward but looked like being frustrated until Easton cracked the ball home from 12 yards after two minutes of stoppage time.

Relieved Ayr gaffer Brian Reid said: "Overall I'm delighted to take a point given the circumstances but we need to win our home games.

"However, give credit to Cowdenbeath who defended well and never gave us many clear-cut chances."
