AXEL FOLEY IS BACK! EDDIE MURPHY STARS IN 'BEVERLY HILLS COP III'
HOLLYWOOD, Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Principal photography has been completed (1/3/94) on the Eddie Murphy starrer "Beverly Hills Cop III." Co-starring with Murphy are Judge Reinhold, Hector Elizondo and Theresa Randle. John Landis directs the screenplay written by Steven E. de Souza and John Bishop, based on characters created by Danilo Bach and Daniel Petrie Jr. Mace Neufeld and Robert Rehme are the producers, Mark Lipsky is the executive producer and Leslie Belzberg is the co-producer of the presentation of the Motion Picture Group of Paramount Pictures. Eddie Murphy returns as Detroit Police detective Axel Foley in the film. Axel heads back to Beverly Hills after a series of unusual clues in a murder investigation lead him to an unlikely setting for crime -- a popular California amusement park. He finds himself on the ultimate thrill ride as he uncovers a criminal network within the colorful fantasy land of WonderWorld. Murphy's Paramount films include "Boomerang," "Another 48 HRS.," "Harlem Nights," "Coming to America," "Raw" (the largest grossing concert film of all time), "The Golden Child," "Trading Places," as well as Disney's "The Distinguished Gentleman." The original "Beverly Hills Cop" became one of the highest grossing films of all time and earned Murphy one of his three Golden Globe nominations. Its sequel, "Beverly Hills Cop II," was the top grossing film of 1987. Reinhold's film credits include both "Beverly Hills Cop" films, "Zandalee" (which he co-produced), "Daddy's Dyin' ... Who's Got the Will?" "Vice Versa," "Ruthless People," "Fast Times at Ridgemont High," and "Stripes." Elizondo has starred in such films as "Frankie and Johnny," "Necessary Roughness," "Nothing in Common," and "The Flamingo Kid." He received a Movie Award for his role in the hit "Pretty Woman," also receiving Golden Globe and American Comedy Award nominations. In partnership, Neufeld and Rehme produced "Patriot Games," "Flight of the Intruder," and "Necessary Roughness." They are currently in production on "Clear and Present Danger," the third installment of films based on Tom Clancy's best-selling novels. Producer Neufeld's credits include "The Omen" films, "The Frisco Kid," "No Way Out," and "The Hunt for Red October." Producer Rehme recently served as the president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Previously Rehme served as the senior executive officer of New World Entertainment; president of the Theatrical Motion Picture Group of Universal Pictures; and president of Avco Embassy Pictures. The films of director Landis include two hit films with Murphy: "Trading Places" and "Coming to America." Among Landis' other directorial credits are the films "An American Werewolf in London," "National Lampoon's Animal House," "Three Amigos," "Spies Like Us," "Into the Night," and "The Blues Brothers." Landis also executive produced the award-winning series "Dream On" entering its fifth season on HBO. Executive Producer Lipsky was an executive producer on "Boomerang," "Another 48 HRS.," "Coming to America," and producer of "Harlem Nights." Co-producer Belzberg produced the films "Innocent Blood" and "Oscar" and served as executive producer of "Coming to America." She was associate producer of the Oscar-winning documentary "Genocide." Writer de Souza is reunited with Murphy for the first time since "48 HRS." The action writer's other film credits include the "Die Hard" films, "Ricochet" and "The Running Man."
