AXCESS Inc. Demonstrates RFID Technology At ISC Expo.DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 10, 1999--AXCESS Inc. (Nasdaq:AXSI) announced today that it will demonstrate its active RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) A data collection technology that uses electronic tags for storing data. The tag, also known as an "electronic label," "transponder" or "code plate," is made up of an RFID chip attached to an antenna. technology in Booth No. 3044 at the International Security Conference and Exposition (ISC (1) (Internet Systems Consortium, Redwood City, CA www.isc.org) An organization founded by Paul Vixie, Carl Malamud and Rick Adams in 1994 and later sponsored by UUNET and other Internet companies. Expo) held at the Sands Expo The Sands Expo and Convention Center, at 1.2 million square feet (110,000 m²), is the second largest convention center in the Las Vegas, Nevada area. It opened in 1990 across the street from the original Sands Hotel. and Conference Center in Las Vegas Las Vegas (läs vā`gəs), city (1990 pop. 258,295), seat of Clark co., S Nev.; inc. 1911. It is the largest city in Nevada and the center of one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the United States. . Over the next three days AXCESS will highlight its RFID capabilities for vehicle access control and tracking, personnel access control, asset and personnel tracking as well as fleet management. AXCESS Inc. products, based on advanced NeuroTag(R) technology, offer many unique features including hands-free activation, long range read, flexible coverage zones and multiple tag read. Demonstrations at the ISC trade show include Functional Linkage linkage In mechanical engineering, a system of solid, usually metallic, links (bars) connected to two or more other links by pin joints (hinges), sliding joints, or ball-and-socket joints to form a closed chain or a series of closed chains. (tm) which links a tagged person to tagged assets as well as vehicle and personnel access control and monitoring. "Access control has historically been 'who gets in,' but AXCESS products can also identify 'who comes and goes, when and with what asset.' Our products are designed to enhance and extend existing systems, not make them obsolete. This allows us to protect the end-user's current investment in technology, while offering added value Added value in financial analysis of shares is to be distinguished from value added. Used as a measure of shareholder value, calculated using the formula:
The AXCESS RFID System is a high performance, active tag system A tag system is a deterministic computational model published by Emil Leon Post in 1943 as a simple form of string rewriting system. A tag system may also be viewed as an abstract machine, called a Post tag machine comprised of radio frequency tags and readers. The tags communicate non-line-of-sight with the reader through an antenna located in the ground, next to the doorway or inconspicuously in·con·spic·u·ous adj. Not readily noticeable. in con·spic installed in a ceiling or
wall. The type and tuning of the reader's antenna determines the
size and location of that reader's coverage zone. As tags enter the
coverage zone the reader communicates the tag's unique ID to the
host computer (or controller) via standard interfaces, e.g., 26-bit
Wiegand, RS-232, Motorola LonWorks(tm). Several host software packages,
including AXCESS' Secure Monitor(tm) provide the intelligence to
report on the activities. "In addition to the obvious efficiencies
of vehicle gate access this technology affords...when combined with
personnel access control and asset tracking the value proposition is an
easy sell to companies, which are unserved by any electronic control
products," stated Harry Budow. He continued, "ISC is a premier
show in the security industry and we're thrilled to be able to
present our AXCESS RFID products to many for the first time."
AXCESS Inc., founded in 1982 as Lasertechnics, Inc., consists of two operating subsidiaries An operating subsidiary is a business term frequently used within the United States railroad industry. In the case of a railroad, it refers to a company that is a subsidiary but operates with its own identity and rolling stock. : (1) AXCESS Inc. headquartered in Dallas, which markets through indirect channels a broad line of products for use in tracking and monitoring vehicles, assets and people using RFID and biometric technology and (2) Lasertechnics Marking Corporation of Albuquerque, N.M. (wholly-owned) which provides laser marking systems and related technologies for a diverse range of industrial and commercial markets.
