 AWT SUBSIDIARY AWARDED $44.2 MILLION CONTRACT TO DESIGN
 NEW YORK CITY WATER TREATMENT FACILITY
 WAKEFIELD, Mass., June 10 /PRNewsire/ -- Metcalf & Eddy, a subsidiary of Air & Water Technologies Corporation (AMEX: AWT), has signed a $44.2 million contract with the New York City Department of Environmental Protection, to provide engineering design services for the construction of the Croton Water Treatment Plan at Jerome Park Reservoir, Borough of the Bronx. The project is a joint venture with the engineering firm of Hazen and Sawyer, P.C.
 Work will entail engineering services for the design of a water treatment plant for treating New York City's Croton water supply which provides approximately 10 percent of the city's normal water need or up to 20 percent of the city's need in time of drought.
 The new Croton Water Treatment Plant will be New York City's first and the most advanced water treatment facility, and will be constructed in the Jerome Park Reservoir.
 Design work will begin in July 1992 and the treatment plant is expected to be in operation by the turn of the century.
