 - The city is one step closer to placing corporate advertising on bus benches, trash containers and outdoor furniture as a way to raise money.

The City Council last Tuesday Last Tuesday is a Christian melodic punk rock band hailing from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. They played their final show on March 10th, 2007. Last Tuesday was formed in 1999 in Harrisburg, P.A.  unanimously approved a plan to solicit proposals from two sources: Soft-drink companies seeking to consolidate all vending on city property; and private companies that would furnish fur·nish

The plan is for the city to use its real estate - including libraries, parks, government offices and public parking lots - to generate new revenue.

City officials emphasized they would only consider proposals that are tasteful taste·ful

waiting to see what the companies have to offer and we'll take it from there,'' Yasmin Beers, deputy city manager, said. ``Everything has to be along the lines of city policies and ordinances and they have to be aesthetically pleasing.''

Glendale officials estimate that the city could bring in ``considerable'' revenues over the life of a 10-year agreement, based on other cities that have entered into similar agreements.

In addition to the added revenue, the city expects to save $320,000 for the initial installation of new bus shelters bus shelter bus nabribus m

Many of its residents work in nearby aerospace and defense installations, and there is light manufacturing.  are among the cities that have enjoyed good relationships with corporate sponsors, officials said.

Huntington Beach entered into a partnership with Coca-Cola that generates at least $600,000 a year that goes toward improving the maintenance of streets and other infrastructure. Garden Grove has partnered with Pepsi and brings in at least $100,000 per year.

Glendale Mayor Bob Yousefian said he wants to make sure the advertising is in good taste before endorsing the idea.

``With advertising on city locations, the whole issue of what kind of advertising we will allow and what we will not allow comes up and then First Amendment issues come into play,'' Yousefian said. ``I'm not ready to give my stamp of approval, but I'm keeping an open mind. If it doesn't cause problems, if it's tasteful and if it doesn't cause clutter, I may go there.''
