AVT signs United Kingdom's largest distributor of personal computers and peripherals; Applied Voice Technology and Northamber join forces to distribute CallXpress3(R) in Europe.


LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 27, 1995--Northamber plc (Chessington, U.K.) and Applied Voice Technology (Kirkland, Wash.) have signed an agreement for Cti Distribution, a division of Northamber, to distribute AVT's CallXpress3 computer-telephony applications.

The companies announced the new agreement today in a series of private press briefings.

CallXpress3 client/server software modules integrate a company's telephone system and local area network to provide unified messaging Having access to e-mail, voice mail and faxes via a common computer application or by telephone. For example, unified messaging may send faxes and digitized voice mail to a mail server that turns them into e-mail attachments.  from the personal computer or the telephone. Desktop for Windows is a unified-messaging software application that provides visual access and control of voice and fax messages. Unified messaging is a means whereby users can manage all kinds of messages from the terminal of choice, in one list, using a common set of message management tools.

"We are going to help dealers get involved with new technologies, in particular, Desktop, voice processing The computerized handling of voice, which includes voice store and forward, voice response, voice recognition and text to speech technologies.  and unified messaging," said Paul Smith, Cti Distribution's divisional manager. Cti distribution is a division of Northamber plc, the U.K.'s leading computer, peripheral and software distributor, with annual revenues in excess of 180 million pounds sterling.

The goal of Cti Distribution is to bridge the gap between computer and telephone technologies, and accelerate the integration of voice and data systems.
