AVT Corporation Names David P. Anastasi as New CEO.

AVT Corporation (Nasdaq:AVTC), a leading provider of business-to-business communications solutions, today announced the hiring of David P. Anastasi as the company's new president, CEO, and director.

Anastasi joins AVT from Conversa, a leader in speech technologies for both mobile and traditional Internet devices, where he was president, CEO, and director. Prior to Conversa, Anastasi's 20-year career includes senior positions at U S West, where he was vice president and general manager of the Public Access Solutions & Smart Card Division. At U S West, he helped develop the "people in motion" initiative, which brought U S West's public payphone business into today's world of a mobile workforce. As part of this program, Anastasi developed leading industry initiatives around delivering data to people on the move through dataports, public Internet terminals/kiosks, prepaid wireless initiatives and smart cards. He was one of the original founders, as well as president and CEO, of the Global Chipcard Alliance (GCA), a Global Smart Card Consortium involving many of the world's major telecommunications companies, financial institutions and technology leaders. He also spent several years in the office products industry, most recently as national sales manager with Neopost, formerly Friden Alcatel, a division of Alcatel Business Systems, which is presently owned by a consortium led by Lazard Freres. Prior to that, Anastasi led a marketing group within the Independent News Division of Warner Communications.
