Now, users can terminate a message without taking their eyes off of the road to push a button to end a recording. It's another example of our commitment to delivering superior mobility features for today's workforce through the continued development of our speech application technology."

The MTD feature solves the classic problem in a hands-free situation when a user is recording a message and wants to end that message. Most speech technology is designed to stop recording when silence is detected, however, the reality is that outside of normal office or closed room environments, background noise is pervasive and will reactivate re·ac·ti·vate

the continuation of the recording. AVST has developed a patent-pending algorithm, the MTD feature, which recognizes the difference between voice and background noise allowing it to detect true voice-silence and stop recording.

"Today's workforce is much more mobile which requires employees to use their cellular phones while driving while at the airport or in public places that are noisy. Regardless of whether these individuals are on a cellular phone, on the road, or in noisy environment, MTD allows them to terminate a voicemail or e-mail message in a hands-free manner," added Myers. "Our unified communications solution is designed to meet the current and emerging requirements of enterprise businesses for real-time mobile communications. We will continue to look for ways that we can enhance our technology to enable a company's mobile workforce to remain safe, productive and efficient while working remotely or commuting."

The MTD feature is available now and has been integrated into the latest version of the company's speech-enabled software. The parameters that detect length of time for voice-silence before terminating a call are customizable.

The patent that AVST has filed for the MTD algorithm is the sixth technology patent filed by the company. The move to patent this feature and other technology innovations, developed by the world-class engineering department of AVST, are further examples of AVST's aggressive program to protect its intellectual property.
