They had been together for three-and-a-half years before the wedding. But cracks in their relationship started to show this year, and Avril headed off on holiday to France in August without him. A source said: "Avril dumped him and told him she was leaving him. She wants to move on." Another insider claimed: "Avril and Deryckhave been growing apart for months. They have become more like business partners than husband and wife." Avril insisted on her blog that the split was amicable. She wrote: "Deryck and I have been together for six-and-a-half years. We have been friends since I was 17, started dating when I was 19 and married when I was 21. "I am grateful for our time together and I am grateful and blessed for our remaining friendship. I admire Deryck and have a great amount of respect for him. "He is the most amazing person I know and I love him with all my heart. Deryck and I are separating and moving forward on a positive note." Deryck, 29, told fans on his MySpace page: "Our decision to part ways is amicable. "Avril holds a special place in my heart and forever will be a great and amazing friend." Deryck has been seen out on the town with model Hanna Beth Merjos since the split. Avril has sold more than 30million records since she burst on to the music scene with Let's Go! in 2002.
