``This means we're doing what we should be doing at a level we should be doing it,'' Antelope Valley High School Antelope Valley High School is located in Lancaster, California and is part of the Antelope Valley Union High School District. It was founded in 1912[1]. It is located in the Mojave Desert.  Principal Mark Bryant Mark Craig Bryant (born April 25 1965, in Glen Ridge, New Jersey) is a retired American professional basketball player who was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 1st round (21st overall pick) of the 1988 NBA Draft.  said.

The accreditation was based on a site visit by six WASC officials, as well as a self-study report compiled by Antelope Valley High School personnel, listing areas where the campus was performing well and areas where it could improve.

Among the strengths noted by the WASC team were safety and order on campus. Bryant said that a recent survey of students and teachers found they feel safe at the school.

Among the goals cited by school staff are raising academic standards, improving staff development, enhancing student support and expanding human and physical resources.

``We have a long way to go. I think all schools have a long way to go. We're moving ahead,'' said Bryant, who has been principal for two years. ``I think we've done a lot of things, and we're continuing to move in the right direction. You're not taking a deep enough look if you think that you're where you want to be.

``I think that the six-year accreditation is just a small piece of recognition that we are moving in the right direction.''

Six years is twice as long as Antelope Valley High's previous accreditation.

``Coming off a three-year accreditation to getting a six-year - it feels really good,'' he said. ``That's what we're trying to do is improve the instructional program of Antelope Valley High School and all other things that are going along here.''

Palmdale High and Lancaster High are scheduled to go through the accreditation process next year.
