The Antelope Valley
 Hospital emergency room physician Dr. Larry Stock received the inaugural humanitarian award created by the California chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) is the largest organization of emergency physicians in the United States. It was founded in 1968 and is now headquartered in Dallas,Texas. .

Stock has participated in medical relief missions in Bosnia, Albania and Kosovo, in Liberia following its civil war, in remote regions of Burma, and most recently in Sri Lanka Sri Lanka (srē läng`kə) [Sinhalese,=resplendent land], formerly Ceylon, ancient Taprobane, officially Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, island republic (2005 est. pop. , where he was one of the first outside doctors to arrive after the December 2004 tsunami.

, medical director of Antelope Valley Emergency Medical Associates and an Antelope Valley Hospital emergency room physician. ``He has helped communities throughout the world, but we're appreciative of the contributions he has made to our hospital's emergency department.''

The award was presented last Friday at the physician group's 34th annual Scientific Assembly in La Quinta, near Palm Springs.

Stock was nominated based on his volunteer work in Los Angeles County and with the Department of Emergency Medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center Harbor-UCLA Medical Center is a hospital located within the city of Torrance, California, USA. The hospital was founded in 1946, and is funded by Los Angeles County

Stock was nominated based on his volunteer work in Los Angeles County and with the Global Health Access Program, an international humanitarian relief organization.

In addition to serving as the assistant medical director of the Antelope Valley Hospital emergency department, Stock is a clinical associate professor at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA UCLA School of Medicine or David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA is an accredited allopathic medical school located in Los Angeles, California, United States. The school was named in honor of media mogul David Geffen who donated $200 million in unrestricted funds to the .

For more than a decade, he has volunteered once or twice a month in the emergency department at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, supervising and teaching medical students.
