of Chicago Rush The Chicago Rush are a team in the Arena Football League. They began play as a 2001 expansion team. History
The team began play in 2001 and is based in Rosemont, Illinois, northwest of Chicago and near O'Hare International Airport.
quarterback Raymond Philyaw Raymond Philyaw (born July 30, 1974 in Shreveport, LA) is an arena football quarterback who plays for the Kansas City Brigade in the Arena Football League. He also played for the Chicago Rush and Albany/Indiana Firebirds, leading the former to the American Conference championship . As it turned out, vindication for the Avengers' defense came in various forms Sunday afternoon.

The Avengers might have entered the 11th game of their season with the worst defense in the 19-team Arena Football League. But they didn't stay there for long in a 71-35 victory at Allstate Arena     [  in Rosemont, Ill.

``They were the difference,'' coach Ed Hodgkiss Ed Hodgkiss is an Arena Football League coach for the Los Angeles Avengers. He has a career record of 52-42, including a 0-4 mark in the postseason. External links

said of the defense. ``We got pressure up front and the (defensive backs) made plays when there were plays to be made. They did a great job. I'm proud of them.''

Lineman Al Lucas Albert Lucas (September 1, 1978 – April 10, 2005) was an American football player in the NFL and Arena Football League who died in a game for the Los Angeles Avengers.  knocked Philyaw from the game in the second quarter with a sprained knee, then dropped Philyaw's replacement, Chad Salisbury, for the Avengers' first safety since 2000.

Rookie defensive specialist Jason Moore Jason Moore may refer to:

, meanwhile, returned an interception 35 yards for a touchdown and also recovered a kickoff as part of a franchise record 50-point first half that featured three defensive stops.

With that, a defense that entered Sunday surrendering seven-plus touchdowns per game on average was redeemed, and the Avengers (7-4) were back on track in their bid to win the first ArenaBowl title in franchise history.

The Avengers moved into a tie with Chicago (7-4) for the No. 4 playoff seed with five games to play. The top eight teams qualify for the playoffs.

Their offense was near flawless for the second consecutive week, scoring on the first eight possessions. Tony Graziani Anthony Robert Graziani (Born:December 23, 1973, in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States) is a current Arena Football League quarterback for the Philadelphia Soul. He previously played in the NFL from 1997-2000 and NFL Europe in 2000.  was 19 of 25 for 261 yards and eight touchdowns. He also had his 10th game this season without an interception.

Chris Jackson caught seven passes for 135 yards and four touchdowns. The Avengers scored 37 unanswered points between the second and third quarters and cruised to a shockingly easy win.

Chicago starts two of the league's most fearsome linemen in John Moyer and James Baron, with nine sacks between them this season. But the Avengers' defense showed up the Rush on Sunday.

The game turned with 4 1/2 minutes left in the first half and the Avengers leading 27-21. Lucas plowed into Philyaw on a blitz, forcing the quarterback to unload the ball early and directly into Moore's arms. Moore darted across the field on the way to the end zone while Philyaw twisted his leg on the play.
