AVENGERS SLIP TO A 0-5 START ARIZONA 55, AVENGERS 28.

Arizona Arizona (âr'əzō`nə), state in the southwestern United States. It is bordered by Utah (N), New Mexico (E), Mexico (S), and, across the Colorado R., Nevada and California (W).  quarterback Sherdri Bonner threw five touchdown passes, three to Randy Gatewood, to lead the Rattlers to a 55-28 Arena Football League victory over the visiting Avengers, sending them to their fifth straight loss to open their first season.

A crowd of 13,103 watched Arizona (4-1) win at America West Arena in Phoenix.

Avengers quarterback Todd Marinovich Todd Marvin Marinovich (born July 4, 1969 in San Leandro, California) is a former American football quarterback who played for the Los Angeles Raiders of the National Football League. Anthony Rice caught an 18-yard TD pass from Marinovich near the end of the third quarter, but that only brought the Avengers back to a 35-14 deficit.

Marinovich ended the Avengers' scoring with a 7-yard TD throw to Jackson with 2:55 to play in the game, but by that time, they trailed 48-28.
