Byline: Staff and Wire Services

LAS VEGAS Las Vegas (läs vā`gəs), city (1990 pop. 258,295), seat of Clark co., S Nev.; inc. 1911. It is the largest city in Nevada and the center of one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the United States.  -- The Avengers sent Las Vegas to its eighth straight Arena Football League defeat when L.A. routed the Gladiators gladiators [Lat.,=swordsmen], in ancient Rome, class of professional fighters, who performed for exhibition. Gladiatorial combats usually took place in amphitheaters. They probably were introduced from Etruria and originally were funeral games.  59-37 Sunday.

Sonny Cumbie Sonny Cumbie (born August 8, 1981, in Abilene, Texas) is an Arena Football League quarterback for the Los Angeles Avengers. High School Years
Cumbie attended Snyder High School in Snyder, Texas, and was a three-sport letterman in football, basketball, and
completed 24 of 30 passes for 293 yards and six touchdowns for the Avengers (5-4). Kevin Ingram Kevin Ingram (born June 19, 1977) is an Arena Football League wide receiver/defensive back for the Los Angeles Avengers. High school career
At Harry S. Truman High School in Levittown, Pennsylvania, Kevin Ingram was a two-time All-League performer as both a wide receiver
had 13receptions for 142 yards and three touchdowns.

"It was an all-around effort for us today," Ingram said on the Avengers' Web site. "It didn't matter if we were on special teams, defense or offense, we were just all on the same page."

The Avengers outscored the Gladiators 35-10 over the second and third periods, making a fourth quarter comeback nearly impossible.

Las Vegas (1-9) has not won a home game this season. Brian Jones completed 28 of 43 passes for 300 yards and three touchdowns and ran for two.
